
Virginia Davis Vann

Virginia Davis Vann, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother passed onto glory on September 17, 2023 peacefully in her sleep. Born on April 29, 1927 in Thomasville, Georgia, Virginia was the daughter of Theron Rupert Davis and Hattie Inez Burton Davis and resided in Thomasville with her family until 1947 when she married Clyde Frost Vann on August 4th, 1947. She worked various jobs helping her husband complete his degree at the University of Alabama. In her young adult years, she enjoyed cosmetology.
After her husband graduated in 1949, they moved all over the southeast United States finally settling down in Leesburg, Florida in 1956. While living in Leesburg, she worked at Belk’s and her husband’s accounting office, supporting his career and raising two children. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg for 67 years, making her a member of the Golden Heritage Club. She spent 21 years employed by First Federal Saving and Loan where she performed numerous jobs; everything from bookkeeping to accounting.
She was a relentless worker known to many as “Miss Virginia” whose colleagues came to greatly admire & appreciate her. Her work ethic was surpassed by few on the face of this earth. During the later years, she was active in the Faithful Ruth Sunday school class as the sunshine chairperson and individual ministries appointed to her by the church. She also worked in the thrift store and benevolence center. She was a woman of substance and devotion with an unlimited capacity to love and care for others. She befriended many through her warmth, thoughtfulness and generosity. Virginia will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son C. Lewis (Ruth) Vann, daughter Laura Vann, grandchildren Frost (Michelle) Vann, Sara (Shane) Viola, great-grandchildren Nathan and Jacob Vann, and a wide circle of friends she lovingly held close.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 W. Main St, Leesburg, FL 34748 with Pastor Gary Blanchard officiating.
