Doris Mae Fitzwater
February 15, 1931 – September 9, 2023
In memory of our Mom, Doris Mae Fitzwater.
Born February 15th, 1931 in Lenox Ohio as Doris Mae Rogers, the 3rd of 5 children to Howard and Cora Rogers. Mom accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at the age of 10. She met Billy Fitzwater (dad) in 1948 in Jefferson Ohio. They were married on August 24th, 1951 and were known as “Billy and Doris Mae” until dads death in 2001. Mom worked several clerical jobs throughout her working career until she retired in 1995. Mom and Dad moved to Florida in 1978 and have called it home since then. Even though mom had a long working career she will be most remembered as a child of God, a devoted wife, loving mother/ grandmother and a friend to all she met. She always put others needs ahead of her own.
Mom and Dad had 3 children, Ronnie (Karen) of Jefferson City Missouri, Judy (deceased) (Reverend Wesley J. Hawes, deceased) and Gary (Rhonda) Leesburg Florida. Mom left behind 8 grandchildren and 22+ great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a church ministry that Mom volunteered at for several years. Please make checks payable to Christian Care Center, in the memo line specify Benevolence Center in memory of Doris Mae. Checks can be mailed directly to 115 N. 13th Street, Leesburg, FL 34748
