A Leesburg woman was arrested after she reportedly bit a police officer outside a bar in Leesburg.
An officer was dispatched around 7:34 p.m. Wednesday to a disturbance at the Shamrock Lounge & Package store, 1120 W. North Blvd., according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The officer was advised that 25-year-old Carly Noelle Maddox was laying down by the back door, refusing to leave.
Upon his arrival two minutes later, the officer spoke with Maddox, who bar employees said became irate and combative with them after consuming alcohol. The officer then escorted her outside to his patrol car, the report said.
While Maddox was detained in handcuffs until the officer could get further information, she became uncooperative and refused to answer whether she was on narcotics or prescription medication, according to the report.
During the questioning, Maddox lunged down towards the officer and bit him on his left forearm, leaving a small red mark, the report said. As a result, she was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. Bar employees also requested she be trespassed from the property, the report said.
Another officer arrived on scene while EMS cleared Maddox due to her intoxication. Maddox was observed to be continuously irate and thrashed her body under the officers’ physical restraint, according to the report.
After being cleared at UF Health, Maddox was transported to the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $5,000 bond.
