A Fruitland Park man was arrested for drug possession in the parking lot of the Family Discount Mart in Leesburg.

Police spotted 40-year-old Marcus Benjamin Wright sitting in a parked white GMC Yukon at around 5:31 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The officer was aware that Wright was wanted on a Lake County warrant for failure to pay child support. The officer approached Wright while he was still in the vehicle and detained him once back-up officers arrived on scene, the report said.

A check confirmed the warrant, and the officer began to search Wright, the report said. During the search, a small clear Ziploc baggie containing 0.8 grams of a white rock-like substance was found in Wright’s right front pant pocket. The substance tested positive for MDMA, also known as ecstasy or molly.

Wright was arrested and charged with possession of MDMA. Upon completing the booking process, Wright was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,570 bond.
