Willie M. Young
5/6/1939 – 2/18/2023
Mother Willie Myrtle Edwards Young was born to the late Lester Edwards and Gracie Smalls on May 6, 1939 in Reddick, Florida.
A TIME TO PROSPER In her early years she worked as a private housekeeper for various homeowners in the area, in which she often talked about their families. If she was ever in the car with you, she would point out the houses and named the families she worked for. She wasn’t just a housekeeper to them but they called her a friend and their children looked up to her as a second mother.
A TIME FOR FAMILY Mother Willie Myrtle Edwards Young was joined in marriage to Reverend Thomas Young Jr. (Deceased). To this union, God blessed them with two sons, Thomas Young III (Marie) of Ocala, FL, Anthony Young (Tonya) of Orlando, FL. and two daughters Winifred Young Walker (deceased), Eloise Young Lynum (Willie), Leesburg, Fl. The loving memories she created with her children will always stay in their hearts. Mrs. Willie loved her grandchildren Yutonia Wilson, Jamous Walker, Thomas Young IV (LaRhonda), Del Jefferson Jr., Tiffany Young Joyner (Quinton), Semeion Walker Richardson, Terrance Young (Cassandra), Shands Walker (Mikaela), Brandon Lynum (Deceased), and one sister-n-law, Elaine Young, Cocoa, Fl
A TIME TO LIVE “This Little Light of Mine, I’m Gonna Let it Shine” Was her favorite song. Mother Willie M. Young accepted the Lord at an early age. She loved the Lord, her Family, and her Church Family, in that order. She was a faithful member of Carver Heights Church of God, now Citadel of Hope Ministries for over 58 years. During her early years in the Carver Heights Church of God, she taught Sunday School and led singspiration service. Mother Willie M. Young and her Husband were pioneers in leading children in her neighborhood to Christ. She was an active member of the Legends Ministry at her church and The Salvation Army Women’s Ministry until her health no longer allowed her to participate. She was also a volunteer on the Nursing Home Ministry with the Salvation Army, where she enjoyed going into the local nursing homes to visit with the residents spreading the joy of the Lord and praying with them. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and painting. She never met a stranger, and had a special way of letting people know she cared for them. She was also known for speaking up and speaking her mind.
A TIME TO TRANSITION On Saturday, February 18, 2023 the Lord called his angel home and as she enters the heavenly gates, she leaves a legacy for her children, grandchildren, great-grand children, family, and friends; “Live for God”, and you will surely see her again.
