Larry N. Hovey, 78, loving father, grandfather and partner, passed away peacefully at his home on February 5th, 2023 surrounded by family.
Larry was born on October 4th, 1944 in Rochester, NY to his parents Earl and Anna Hovey. He would go on to provide 35 years of exemplary service as a machinist and model maker for the Xerox Corporation. Larry was also a volunteer firefighter for the West Webster Fire Department just outside of Rochester.
Upon retirement, Larry ventured beyond Rochester and built a home in the mountains of Pennsylvania where he spent many years enjoying life as an outdoorsman before moving on to the sunshine of Leesburg, FL in early 2000.
In addition to his love of the great outdoors, Larry loved riding his motorcycle, playing cards & bocce ball, and had an affinity for both the cars and the music of the 1950’s. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he would socialize and help raise money for a number of worthy causes.
Larry is predeceased by his parents, Earl and Anna; and his brother, Howard. He is survived by his devoted partner of 40 years, Marietta Blaisdell; his beloved children, Larry (Pam) Hovey, Jr., Denise Merlino, and Steve (Aileen) Hovey; cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline, Rachelle, Chelsey, Robert, Rick, and Angelina; siblings Peggy & Dick; as well as four great-grandchildren and his longtime buddy “Sherlock,” his African grey parrot.
