A Leesburg woman sought in a November attack was apprehended after a traffic stop in Lady Lake.
An officer observed a red Ford pick-up truck traveling east on Fennell Boulevard without headlights or taillights displayed at 5:50 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
A sergeant conducted a traffic stop and approached the passenger side of the truck. While speaking to the occupants, the sergeant smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. He looked down at the ground near the passenger side door and found a clear plastic bag of marijuana, the report said.
When asked about the marijuana, 20-year-old Teoni Monae Bailey said she threw it out prior to being pulled over, the report said. A search of her ID card revealed an unconfirmed Lake County warrant from an altercation back in November. Bailey was detained while the warrant was confirmed.
In that incident, officers arrived at a home on Wood Duck Lane at around 8:46 p.m. Nov. 5 in reference to a disturbance, according to an affidavit of probable cause in support of the warrant from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
A woman told police that she had returned home that day to see droplets of blood around her home and her husband absent. Neighbors told her he had been attacked by their other neighbors and taken to the hospital. Bailey and her male companion arrived at the residence, and they all went to confront the neighbors, the affidavit said.
Bailey started to fight the other neighbor and pulled out some of his dreads. At the same time, Bailey’s companion again grabbed at another man’s throat, causing him to fall backwards into the bushes, the affidavit said.
The affidavit stated Bailey and her companion allegedly kicked down the door of the neighbor’s residence and entered the house. Another neighbor called the police. The man with dreadlocks showed police his injuries, including abrasions on his face and multiple dreads missing from his head.
Bailey was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $26,000 bond.
