Lake County updates yard waste and mattress drop-off regulations

Starting Feb. 1, Lake County’s Solid Waste Department will begin enforcing two new regulations at their drop-off facilities. The new regulations include:

• Yard waste will be limited to 4 cubic yards per day

• No stumps, logs, or fence posts accepted

• Yard waste must be no longer than 4 feet in length and no more than 6 inches in diameter

• Loads outside of the above specifications may be taken to the County’s Central Landfill Facility (13130 County Landfill Road, Tavares), and will incur a fee

In addition to the new yard waste regulation of 4 cubic yards per day, no type of mattress, mattress liner, or box spring will be accepted at these facilities. Mattresses, mattress liners, and box springs will continue to be accepted at the County’s Central Landfill Facility.

The regulations outlined above will apply to the locations in Astor, Clermont, Lady Lake, Paisley, and Pine Lakes. Proof of Lake County residency is required to use these Drop-off Centers.

Residents can also call their garbage hauler to schedule curbside collection of these items. When picked up at the curb, yard waste and furniture is limited to three cubic yards per week.
