Motorcyclist dies after crash on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Lake County

A motorcyclist has died after a crash on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Lake County.

The 51-year-old Clermont man had been riding a 2014 Triumph motorcycle at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday northbound on U.S. Hwy. 27 at Green Cove Boulevard south of Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont when a 51-year-old Clermont woman driving a southbound 2014 Cadillac SRX made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Cadillac entered the direct path of the motorcycle and the motorcyclist hit the vehicle.

He was transported to South Lake Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had been wearing a helmet, the report noted.

The crash remains under investigation.
