Jesse R. Crawford, 96, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023. He was born September 25, 1926 in Heuvelton, New York to Jesse and Bessie (Stevens) Crawford.
He graduated from Heuvelton Central School and served in the United States Air Force in the 9th Air Force bomb disposal unit during World War II, was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Heuvelton, a Heuvelton volunteer fireman, a member of several veterans’ groups, and a member of the Masons and Order of the Eastern Stars.
He married Dorothy Dunn on August 4, 1947. He and his wife owned and operated The Crawford Insurance Agency in Heuvelton, NY and were active in always giving back to their community. They retired and moved to the Hawthorne Retirement Community in Leesburg, Florida in 1990.
He is survived by his daughters, Gloria (Jed) Cohen of Orchard Park, NY and Judi (George) Schulz of Marlboro, NJ; grandchildren, Wendy, Molly, Abby, Brett and Jillian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2018, a sister Elsie in 2016 and a sister Jeanette in 1941.
