Joan L. Henns of Mount Dora, Florida passed away on Saturday January 7, 2023, at the age of 89. Joan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1933, to her parents Michael and Josephine Lazor. In 1956, she married the love of her life Dr. Robert Henns in Orlando, Florida.

She moved to Mount Dora from Altamonte Springs, Florida in 1973. Prior to Altamonte Springs she also resided in Winter Park where she was a member of the Junior Service League of Winter Park, was a Den Mother, and a past president of the Orange County Dental Auxiliary. In Altamonte Springs she oversaw the city beautification project, and a member of the planning and zoning board. She was also an Antique dealer with a vast knowledge of history and antiquity. While in Altamonte Springs she owned Windsor Chair Antiques and exhibited throughout the Southeast.

She was an active member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Mount Dora, Florida. Joan was also a member of the Oleander Garden Club. She worked in real estate sales, appraisals, and antiquing. She owned and operated Henns and Holland Estate Sales, and then eventually owned and operated Henns Appraisal Services. To her friends and family, she was known for her constant smile, always wanting to entertain, and was also a gratuitous host. She was known for her love of American Art and Furniture, and she said her greatest accomplishment was raising her 4 children.

Joan is predeceased by her late husband Dr. Robert Henns who passed away in 1991.

Joan is survived by her 4 children Theresa Henns of Eustis, Florida, John A (Christy) Henns of Mount Dora, Florida, Jeanmarie (Collin) York of Grand Island, Florida, and Robert M. (Holly) Henns of Eustis Florida; and 2 grandchildren Robert and Christine Harvey, and great grandchild Louella Harvey.
