A woman with an extensive criminal record was arrested after allegedly attacking her man friend at the Microtel Inn & Suites on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Leesburg.

Leesburg police officers were dispatched Dec. 29 to the hotel after a 911 call from a male victim was received early in the afternoon. The police met with the victim in the hotel lobby.

He told officers that 33-year-old Rebecca Belrose became irate with him and questioned his integrity. She then slapped him twice and then hit him hard with a closed fist to the right side of his face. He was able to push her onto the bed with his forearm as she continued to strike at him, according to the police report. He moved away from Belrose, who grabbed his cell phone and ran out of the room.

The man told the officer that he went to the motel front desk and used the phone to call 911.

Belrose was arrested later that evening at the hotel and was booked at the Leesburg Police Department for domestic battery. The New York native was then transported to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $1,000 which she posted.

Belrose has had four arrests for battery and/or drug offenses this year.
