A Leesburg sex offender who once went by the name “Mr. Peepers” is heading back to prison.

The convicted sex offender, 37-year-old Christopher Michael Shea, was sentenced Tuesday to one year and one day in state prison for failing to promptly register as a sex offender.

He was released from prison on Oct. 1, 2021, having been convicted of sending harmful materials to minors in 2017. Upon his release from prison, he failed to register an address within 48 hours as required by law. After spending 19 days in the Lake County Jail, he was released on bond.

This past week in Lake County Court, he was sentenced to another prison term for the registration violation.

He was previously arrested in the Treasure Coast area where he was visiting websites such as Battlefield, First Person Shooter, Forza, and Fortnight, which are extremely popular with juveniles. Shea went by the names “Mr. Peepers” and “Cut-Off Burrito” on those sites. At the time of that arrest, he was on probation and had been ordered to stay off the internet.
