Homeland Security provides new K-9 to Lake County Sheriff’s Office

Onyx is the newest member of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Onyx is the newest addition to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The K-9 is a two-year-old Labrador Retriever and was purchased for LCSO by the Department of Homeland Security with funding through Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Onyx is currently assigned to a Special Investigations Bureau detective who is also a task force officer with Homeland Security Investigations.

The K-9’s primary focus will be on narcotics interdiction.
