A suspect has been arrested by Mount Dora police on a warrant stemming from a domestic battery and the theft of a golf cart.

When he was taken into custody this past week, 41-year-old David L. Nicholson of Mount Dora was also charged with resisting arrest without violence.

The warrant had been obtained by a Lake County sheriff’s detective who had been assigned to investigate the theft of the golf cart.

A woman reported that last month, Nicholson battered her grandson and stole her golf cart from her home in the 100 block of Buccaneer Drive in Leesburg.

Deputies canvassed the neighborhood that day but did not find Nicholson or the golf cart.

At the time of his arrest on the warrant, Nicholson, who has a long criminal history, was taken to the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $5,500.
