A Leesburg man who is a convicted felon was arrested on a weapons charge in Sumter County.
A Sumter Country sheriff’s deputy was on patrol on North West Third Street in Webster when he saw 49-year-old Lazzary Dean Mobley driving a silver Chevrolet. The deputy knew that Mobley’s driver’s license had been suspended for a driving under the influence conviction as well as multiple driving while license suspended convictions.
During a traffic stop, the deputy saw that a small pistol was in plain view in the car. Mobley has previous felony convictions and cannot legally have a gun or ammunition.
Mobley was placed under arrest for possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon and driving while license suspended. A records check confirmed Mobley has 11 prior driving while license suspended convictions and two DUI convictions. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $12,500.
