A Lake County man was arrested after allegedly grabbing a 17-year-old Beef O’Brady’s waitress by her buttock and rubbing his hand along the girl’s thigh while telling her that she had “nice legs.”
The unwanted touching occurred at the Beef O’Brady’s in Bushnell where 65-year-old Larry Rerick of Fruitland Park was a customer. The 17-year-old told the restaurant manager that she had been fondled by Rerick against her will, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s office. The manager called law enforcement.
After speaking to the victim and to Rerick ,the deputy placed him under arrest and transported him to the Sumter County Jail where he was booked Friday evening for the offense of battery. Bond was set at $1,000.
Rerick had been charged with battering his mother in 2019 after arguing with her over his drinking. He avoided a conviction in that case by entering a pre-trial intervention program which he successfully completed.
