Lake Tech to host Career TechXpo open house event

Lake Technical College will show how students can get a “Career in a Year” at its Career TechXpo open house event from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at its Eustis campus, 2001 Kurt St.

Lake Techs Culinary Arts program is ranked as one of the best in the state
Lake Tech’s Culinary Arts program is ranked as one of the best in the state.

Attendees will be able to meet industry experts, tour in-demand programs, interact with current Lake Tech students, engage with hands-on activities, and get questions answered about more than 30 career and technical programs at the school. Admissions, Financial Aid, and Business Office team members will be on hand to help with the application and enrollment process.

One of the Lake Tech programs featured at the Career TechXpo will be Culinary Arts, which is recognized as one of the best programs in the state. Chef Ken Koenig is one of many instructors at Lake Tech who left his or her industry to leave a legacy through training the next-generation work force.

“TechXpo is a great way for us to show off the level of culinary arts we offer at Lake Tech. For any high school culinary arts student, or for future local culinarians trying to decide where to advance their skills, we invite you to come see our students in action,” Chef Koenig said. “Speak with our students and hear their stories. You’ll find that many of them often drive great distances to attend Lake Tech and several even drive past other schools to attend ours!”

Some graduates have found careers in vacation resorts and high-end restaurants around the country, while others have stayed local and opened their own businesses. The opportunities are limitless. You can follow their journey and see their culinary creations, ice sculptures, and decadent desserts on social media.

Also, available only to attendees on the night of TechXpo, is the chance to be awarded a $500 scholarship towards tuition!

Career TechXpo is free, but registration is recommended through Eventbrite or at www.laketech.org.
