Milton J. Bowdy

Milton J. Bowdy, 89, of Tavares, FL, passed away on July 27, 2022. He was born August 7, 1932, in Syracuse, NY, to Louis & Lena Crossway Bowdy. Milton enlisted in the Army on February 27, 1951, where he had a number of commendations: the Bronze Star & the Korean Service Medal with two Purple Hearts. Milton met the love of his life, Gail Dee Dilmore, and was married on February 19, 1955, in Elmira, NY.

Milton is survived by his children, Wendy (Ron) Cooper of Frisco, TX, John Michael Bowdy of Orange Park, FL, Timothy Bowdy of Hamburg, PA, and Richard (Rhonda) Bowdy of Waianae, HI; grandchildren, Ryan Davis, Christina (Matt) Benedict, Jeremy Cooper, Morgan (Michael) Kaufman, Elana Bowdy, Jessica Polynone, Koty (Kaelyn) Bowdy, Melissa (Andrew) Kelly, and Gabrielle (Chris) Blessing; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, James Bowdy of Corning, NY; sister, Linda Fuller of Horseheads, NY; numerous nieces & nephews.

Heartfelt thanks to Barbara Beckwith for the love & care she provided to our dad for the last 5 years.

Milton is preceded in death by his wife, Gail Bowdy; brother, Pat Bowdy; sisters; Anna Mae Pettitt & Marie Woodworth.

A Remembrance Gathering will be held at Barber Funeral Home, 413 South Main Street, Horseheads, NY 14845 on October 6, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Inurnment to follow at the Woodlawn National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
