A Lake County sheriff’s office detective has tracked down a Leesburg teen who allegedly started a gunfight earlier this year.
Dylan Scott Eckerdt, 19, was arrested Monday evening on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Eckerdt had been driven on Jan. 21 to the 34500 block of Laralark Avenue by another youth. Eckhardt got out of the truck and yelled that he wanted a resident of one of the houses to come out and fight him. Two of the occupants of the mobile home looked out at Eckerdt, saw that he had a pistol and armed themselves.
A neighbor approached Eckerdt and began to struggle with him. When the neighbor realized that Eckerdt had a gun, he stopped fighting and ran for his life. Eckerdt fired three rounds at the fleeing neighbor, according to the probable cause affidavit filed in support of the arrest warrant .
The two people in the mobile home opened fire on Eckerdt, who jumped in the truck and fled the area.
Eckerdt was booked at the Lake County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held without bond on several probation violations.
