A woman who sought treatment at Lifestream Behavioral Center in Leesburg was arrested shortly after leaving the facility.
Laura Smith, 58, went to the treatment facility Saturday afternoon and as part of the intake process she took an unregistered portable breath test which showed a blood alcohol level of .193. She decided to leave the facility and got into a black Kia passenger car. Intake staff called the Leesburg Police Department, regarding a possible drunk driver loose on the streets.
A Leesburg officer stopped the Kia in the 1800 block of Citrus Boulevard . When the officer made contact with Smith, he detected a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She had bloodshot and watery eyes. She performed poorly in standardized field tests, according to the arrest report. She provided two breath samples at the Leesburg Police Department which showed a blood alcohol level on the first test of .118 and .123 on the second test. A check of her driving record showed two current suspensions for financial responsibility violations.
She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $4,000 bond.
