An argument with his girlfriend early Monday morning led to a Leesburg man’s drug arrest at a local motel.

Jason Scott Pelfrey, 42, had rented a room at the Royal Inn on Bay Street in Eustis. Police were called to the motel when a loud argument occurred between Pelfrey and a woman who had been in the room with him.

When officers made contact with the woman, she told them that she had been trying to leave the room and Pelfrey stopped her. He left the room shortly before the police arrived and was stopped by an officer before he could leave the property. The officers noticed the smell of burnt marijuana in the room and located a package of 305 cigarettes belonging to Pelfrey which contained both marijuana and methamphetamine, according to the Eustis Police Department’s arrest report.

Pelfrey was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. He was taken to the Lake county Jail where bond was set at $3,000.
