A Leesburg man stopped for speeding in Fruitland Park was arrested after it was discovered he was driving with a revoked license.

Robert Antonio Hughes, 36, of 209 S. Lake St., was pulled over shortly after 9 a.m. Friday when a Fruitland Park police officer caught him on radar going 40 mph in a 25-mph zone on Pine Ridge Dairy Road near Rooks Avenue, according to the police report.

The officer ran Hughes’s information through the Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) and saw his license was revoked in August 2010 with 10 convictions for driving with a suspended license, the report said.

Hughes was charged with driving with a revoked license and taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was released later in the day on $2,000 bond. Hughes, who was also issued a written warning for speeding, is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Aug. 15.
