A Leesburg woman was charged as a habitual offender after being stopped for driving with a suspended license.

A Fruitland Park police officer received a vigilant license plate reader alert on a Florida tag attached to a 2014 black Jeep. The officer then saw the Jeep traveling south on U.S. 441 and conducted a traffic stop, according to the police report.

The driver was identified by her driver’s license as Latoya Renee Davis, 34, of 200 Church St. A computer search showed Davis having a suspended license under the habitual offender status, the report said.

David was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail, where he posted $2,000 bond and was released hours later. She’s scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Aug. 8.
