A Leesburg woman was arrested on a warrant last week charging her with dating violence.

The probable cause affidavit in support of the arrest warrant stated that 22-year-old Deja Lania Dabney on June 13 attacked a man she had been dating while the man had been a passenger in a car Dabney was driving.

The couple had been in a verbal argument when Dabney jumped on the man and began scratching his face and upper torso, according to the arrest report. She also bit the boyfriend on the left shoulder. The man was able to get away from Dabney and she fled the area.

Leesburg police officers were dispatched to the location of the alleged battery where they made contact with the man who had been the victim of Dabney’s attack. The officers took pictures of the fresh scratch marks on the man’s face, throat and chest. The officers also spoke to a witness who saw Dabney attack the man. Officers were unable to find Dabney that night but were able to obtain an arrest warrant.

She was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000 which was posted the next day.
