A Leesburg man was killed in a rollover crash that shut down a section of U.S. Hwy. 27.
Douglas Crews had been driving a 2011 Hyundai sport utility vehicle at 6:30 p.m. Saturday southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27 at Corley Island Road when the vehicle hit a curb and rolled over several times, an eyewitness told the Leesburg Police Department.
Crews was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A section of southbound U.S. Hwy. 27 was closed for approximately six hours for the investigation. Traffic was diverted with the assistance of the Florida Department of Transportation into the northbound lane.
This crash remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department Traffic Unit.
