Man arrested after allegedly pointing rifle at his cousin

A man was arrested in Umatilla after allegedly pointing a rifle at his cousin and threatening to kill him.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Saturday morning to the 3800 block of Church Street around after they received a call of a disturbance at that location. The deputies made contact with a man who was standing in the middle of Church Street.

He said that 51-year-old Fred White Jr. of Umatillahad appeared at the residence and was carrying some sort of rifle. The man said White pointed the gun at him and said, “I told you I’m gonna kill you,” according to the arrest report. He also said that about two weeks earlier, White had threatened his life while pointing the weapon at him. The man said that he was in fear for his life during those incidents. The man and White are cousins.

Several family members were present at that location said they heard White shouting about shooting someone. They told the deputies that White was known to carry around some sort of weapon in the style of a rifle. The deputies found White at a Church Street residence and place him under arrest. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bond was set at the Lake County Jail at $5,000.
