A driver has died as the result of a fiery crash Friday afternoon in Leesburg.
The driver was involved in a single-vehicle accident in the 1700 block of Citrus Boulevard in front of Key Scales Ford. A fire broke out as a result of the crash, but the driver was unable to get out of the burning vehicle, according to Leesburg Fire Rescue. The driver, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The cause of the crash in under investigation. Lake County Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.
