Edward Maher passed away peacefully at his home in Tavares, FL. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Sara Maher, his sister Joan (Donald) Hemmerick and his wife Judith Maher. He is survived by his loving partner Mary Gallick; his children Scott (Belinda) Maher, Marilyn (Michael) Bader, Kimberly (Jeffery) Hardies, Sheri (Jamie Barker) Schramm; his grandchildren Andrew and Christine Maher, Jacob, Meagan and Noah Bader, Jared Hardies and Kathryn Schramm; many nieces and nephews
Ed was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He was an Army Veteran who served from 1958-1961 as an aviator mechanic. Ed worked for Eastman Kodak for over 30 years, retiring in the early 1990’s. Ed was a volunteer fireman for the Chili Fire Department, serving many roles including fire chief. He spent his retirement years living in Ocala, FL and finally settling in Tavares. During retirement he held a few part-time jobs in Ocala. Mainly he enjoyed his many hobbies that included puttering around his house, maintaining his yard and gardens, his love of being out on the water in his boat or on the dock fishing. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, love of a good time, his willingness to help others, and his neverending sweet tooth.
Services will be held at a later date in Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in his memory be made to the Chili Fire Department, 3231 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624.
