Burned-out tag light leads to Leesburg woman’s arrest

A Leesburg woman was charged with habitually driving without a license after she was pulled over for her rear tag light being out.

At around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Lake County sheriff’s deputy spotted a white Ford with a Texas license plate in the area of U.S. Hwy. 441 and County Road 44 with the rear tag light not illuminated. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the 5 Star Seafood Restaurant, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The driver of the vehicle – Angela Maria Rodriguez, 22, of 11809 Keats Drive – told the deputy her license was suspended and provided a Florida identification card. A search of Rodriguez’s driving history showed two suspensions, a cancellation and a 60-month revocation for being a habitual traffic offender, the report said.

Rodriguez was given a warning for the tag light and charged with driving with a suspended license (habitual offender). She was taken to the Lake County Jail, where she posted $1,000 bond on Wednesday. Rodriguez will appear in Lake County Court on May 9.
