Joseph J. Jackson Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on January 1st surrounded by his immediate family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born on June 23, 1944 in Waterbury, CT to his parents Joseph and Phyllis (Mascia) Jackson. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT and enjoyed a long 37 year career with AT&T. Upon retirement, 19 years ago, he made his home in Leesburg, FL where he enjoyed the warm sunshine, quiet times on his lanai reading his favorite novels and spending time with his wife. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna (Daskam) Jackson, their children Donna Marie Nagy and son in-law Jack (Little Rock, AR), Tamara Breuel and son in-law Tom (Brookfield, CT) and Joe Jackson and daughter in-law Lisa (Newtown, CT). He is also survived by his grandchildren Courtney Bronson and Connor Nagy, Jackson and Peyton Breuel and Mason and Madison Jackson as well as two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Nagy. Joe is also survived by his sister Margaret Stritch and brother Charles Jackson. Joe’s family was his pride and joy. Joe would do anything for his family no matter what the ask and was always quick to provide clear guidance no matter the topic. He was married to his wife, Donna, for over 56 years and she was the love of his life. Married at a very young age, many felt their marriage wouldn’t last. They were soul mates and enjoyed a beautiful life together. Joe was an avid sports fan and die hard NY Yankees fan. He loved watching not only baseball, but basketball and football as well. He also loved to cook and his children often called him for his greatest recipes (especially his meatballs) or advice for a delicious dinner. Joe will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at the convenience of the family and will be held in CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph’s name to the Knights of Columbus, Council #185, Sandy Hook, CT.
