A Lake County man has died after getting pinned under an ATV early on New Year’s Day.
The 36-year-old Umatilla man was riding the ATV at 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Street and Lakeshore Avenue near Lake Umatilla when he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The ATV landed on top of him.
He was transported by ambulance to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares where he died of injuries suffered in the crash.
The man had not been wearing a helmet, the report noted.
The crash remains under investigation.
