Rickey John Wood, 70 of Fruitland Park, FL. passed away on December 21,2021. Rickey was born on March 12, 1951 in Ohio to Ernest R. Wood and Madonna P. Wood. Rickey has been married to the love of his life Essie L. Taylor Wood since December 12, 1970. He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela D. Weller and her husband David, plus Stephanie M. Wood Barham and fiance’ Terry of Beaufort,SC.; 6 grandkids, 4 great grandkids and many family and friends. Rickey grew up in Fruitland Park and attended Leesburg High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from May of 69′ to February of 73′.He was a volunteer firefighter for the Fruitland Park Fire Department for many years. Later he joined American Legion Post 219 of Fruitland Park, FL. where he wore the hat of Commander and many others for several years. He also was at charter member to start the Son’s of American Legion Squadron 219. He was very proud of all his accomplishments, but most of all his family and country.
