A Leesburg woman driving a car with a flat tire was arrested early Saturday morning on a charge of driving under the influence.
A Fruitland police officer saw a vehicle heading southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 with its left front tire completely flat. The officer contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office after the vehicle stopped at the Wells Fargo branch bank located at 2241 Citrus Blvd. in Leesburg.
A deputy made contact with the driver, 67-year-old Lisbal Delgado. She told the deputy that she had heard a loud “pop” and then noticed her tire was flat. She said she was trying to get home, according to the deputy’s arrest report. The deputy noted that Delgado lives eight miles form where the traffic stop had occurred. She had difficulty following directions and had watery, bloodshot eyes. She struggled through field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that measured .159 and .141 blood alcohol content.
The native of Puerto Rico was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
