A teenage girl was arrested Thursday night for her part in destroying holiday lights at the Venetian Center in Leesburg.
Shalee Casey, 18, told Leesburg police that she had accompanied two of her friends, Joshua Reppy and Matthew Wiemer, as they walked through the park around 10:20 p.m. Oct. 17. Police had reviewed a security tape and initially identified Casey as being with the two boys.
Investigators interviewed her on Oct. 21 at the Leesburg Police Department. She said the two boys had destroyed some lights and furniture in the park. Both of the 19-year-olds were arrested that same day and charged with criminal mischief as a result of information Casey provided to police. The damage was estimated at $2,900. Casey was not initially arrested.
On Thursday, Casey contacted the investigating officer and said she wanted to add to her statement. She confessed to destroying some lights, electrical fixtures and some furniture. Casey was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
