A Leesburg High School student was arrested after allegedly pointing a pistol at two fellow students.
The arrest resulted from an event Thursday near the high school. The parent of one of the victims contacted the Leesburg Police Department who assigned a former school resource officer to the case.
The officer met with the parent and her daughter. The daughter told the officer that as she and her boyfriend were leaving the high school they were confronted by the 17-year-old student.
She said the teen leaned out the side window of a car and shouted, “What do ya’ll want to do? We can handle it right now,” while pointing a pistol at the students. When the victims did not react, the youth drove off. The girl told the officer that the boy with the gun had been in a fight at the school last year that involved her boyfriend.
The former school resource officer knew about the fight and was familiar with the gun-brandishing teenager, who is on probation for carrying a concealed firearm. The youth was arrested and charged with a probation violation as well as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
