A woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a Lake County sheriff’s deputy spotted her driving a truck with an obscured license plate in Leesburg.

Monica Hampton, 37, of Groveland had been driving south on U.S. Hwy. 27 near Plantation Boulevard when the deputy noticed her vehicle’s obscured license plate and initiated a traffic stop. She admitted she has been classified as a habitual traffic offender and does not have a valid driver’s license, according to the arrest report. The deputy checked her driving record which showed numerous convictions for driving while license suspended.

She was arrested on a third-degree felony charge of driving while license suspended. She was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
