A Leesburg man’s tinted windshield led to a felony arrest Monday afternoon after a traffic stop.

A Leesburg police officer observed a black Ram pickup truck traveling north on Stinson Street. The truck’s entire front windshield was tinted in violation of Florida traffic laws. The officer stopped the truck, driven by 36-year-old Jose Ventura.

When Ventura opened his driver’s side window the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the truck. Ventura told the officer that some passengers earlier in the day may have had some marijuana in the truck. The officer searched the truck and found a very small quantity of marijuana and a small baggie containing cocaine.

Ventura was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond. He was ticketed for the tinted windshield.
