A burned-out headlight led to a felony arrest in Leesburg.

While on patrol late Friday night, a Leesburg police officer observed a green Jeep westbound on U.S. Hwy. 441 with a burned-out headlight.

The officer made contact with the driver, identified as 32-year-old Dallas Brewer of Eustis. A records check showed Brewer has three convictions for driving while license suspended and is currently suspended from driving. After removing Brewer from the Jeep and placing him under arrest, Brewer handed the officer a prescription bottle which had drugs properly prescribed to him but which also contained a hand-rolled marijuana joint. In addition, Brewer pulled two hypodermic needles from his pockets. He allowed the officer to search the Jeep. The officer found drug paraphernalia and .3 grams of cocaine.

Brewer was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended. Bond was set at $6,000.
