The Family of Lonnie Joseph Posey,71 of Oxford, Florida is sad to say goodbye to a wonderful Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was born November 6, 1949 in Remlap, Alabama to Rueben Raymond Posey and Mary Ella Mauser Posey. He served a short time in the U.S. Marine Corps, but was always a Marine, holding himself to those standards. Lonnie met his wife in Atlanta and married after a courtship of only 6 weeks. They moved around the southeast, finally settling in Florida. They were married for 51 years last Christmas Eve. He went to Law school for a few years before deciding that lawyers were by necessity, not nice people. Lonnie was a self-taught but well known locksmith in Ft. Lauderdale, who moved here in 1994 and opened another successful locksmith business for several more years before retiring. In addition to his parents he was predeceased in death by 3 brothers, Walter D. Posey of California, Bobby G. Posey of Tennessee, and Billy R. Posey of Alabama. Surviving in addition to his wife; Sean Michael (Ioana Ungureanu), and Chadwick Eugene (Jennifer Snyder) both of Summerfield, and 3 grandchildren, Felicity Snyder Pinkstaff and her husband Christopher, Connor Michael, and Evan Alexander. Also surviving are 2 brothers Kenneth L. Posey and his Wife, Barbara, Mark D. Posey and wife, Imogene, and a sister Frances E. Posey. He also left too many nieces and nephews to name.
Services will be held at Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home located at 410 N. Webster St. in Wildwood, FL, on Friday, October 1, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of Flowers, anyone may make a donation in his name to the Sumter County Humane Society, 994 Co Rd 529A, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538
