Lake County man killed after crashing into flatbed truck’s trailer

A Lake County man was killed after crashing into a trailer towed by a flatbed truck on Interstate 275 in Pinellas County.

The 42-year-old Groveland man had been driving a sport utility vehicle at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday when he failed to slow down for the flatbed truck which had slowed in front of him as it was preparing to make a U-turn on the northbound entrance ramp in a construction zone, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. His SUV crashed into a trailer being towed by the flatbed truck driven by a 46-year-old Daytona Beach man.

The Groveland man died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the flatbed truck and his passenger, a 22-year-old Fruitland Park man, escaped injury in the accident.
