A late night stroll at the Susan Street Sports Complex in Leesburg resulted in the arrest of a convicted felon.
While on patrol Tuesday night, a Leesburg police officer spotted a man standing next to a bench after the park had closed for the night.
The man was identified as 60-year-old Edward L. Brown, who is on parole for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released Sept. 3, 2020 from a Florida prison. Brown had a glass pipe in his pocket which had a residual amount of a substance which field tested as cocaine.
Brown was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and for violating his parole . He was booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.
