A Leesburg man was arrested late Saturday night on a drunk driving charge after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident.

Tavares Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Gateway Drive and State Road 19 regarding a hit-and-run accident. When they arrived at that location, they met with a man whose car had been rear-ended by a white pickup, which fled the crash scene.

Howey in the Hills officers stopped a white pickup with damage to the front end, driven by 28-year-old Bryson Hunter.

Tavares officers interviewed Hunter, who admitted to being too drunk to drive, but did not initially remember being in an accident.

He agreed to participate in field sobriety tests, which he failed. He provided breath samples that registered .212 and .218 blood alcohol content.

The West Virginia native was placed under arrest for DUI crash with property damage and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
