Barbara Staviski Acosta (86) of Leesburg, FL, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on September 8, 2021. She was born July 30, 1935, in Newark, NJ.
Barbara is survived by her dear husband of five years, Ramon Acosta; her children, Cheryl Staviski of Paterson, NJ, Scott Staviski of High Bridge, NJ and Catherine Staviski of Morrisville, NC. She was also blessed with two grandchildren, Sara and Alan Staviski of High Bridge, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Julia (Tyra) Moore, her first husband of 57 years, Theodore Staviski and her sister, Connie Miller.
Barbara was an executive secretary in the hospitality industry, prior to retirement and moving to Florida with Ted. Besides picking up golf, Barb was a champion bridge player and Queen Mum in the Red Hat Society. Barb had a love for dancing, cooking, karaoke, and spending time celebrating life with friends, new and old.
When she wasn’t with others, you could find her tending her rose garden, exercising, or reading a great book. Barb’s character, strength and resilience were ever present while battling cancer. Barb will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, great sense of humor and her joy in life. She leaned into her strong faith to fight the good fight. A celebration of life will be held in early spring for friends and family.
