A Leesburg man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested in an alleged box-cutter attack on a homeless man.
Terry Lynch, 36, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the attack which occurred Aug. 31 at a homeless encampment near the bicycle path east of the freezer plant on Bradford Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
The 62-year-old victim confronted Lynch and accused him of stealing some of his belongings. Lynch used the box cutter to slash the man’s forearm. Lynch then fled the area.
The 62-year-old man showed law enforcement a photo of Lynch and officers recognized him from previous encounters.
An officer spotted Lynch on Tuesday evening on McCormack Street and took him into custody.
He was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $33,000 bond.
