Leesburg woman arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

A Leesburg woman was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia Saturday afternoon following her arrest in Eustis.

Meyana Carol Armstrong, 22, disobeyed a stop sign while driving a gray Ford SUV, according to an arrest report from the Eustis Police Department. A check revealed the vehicle’s registration had expired. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.

The officer found two cigarette packs, one of which contained a white powder which field tested as methamphetamine. The officers also recovered a cartridge filled with a brown liquid which field tested for a high concentration of THC.

She was booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
