A Lake County man has been charged with domestic battery after allegedly punching his wife when she told him to move out.

Jeffrey Sandy Freeman, 58, was arrested on a warrant Thursday and transported to the Lake County Jail.

Leesburg police officers were called to the 29400 block of U.S. Hwy. 27 on the evening of Aug. 1. When they arrived, Freeman was gone, and his wife said the two had an “on again, off again” relationship for the past year and he had been living on his own before moving back in with her about a month before the attack.

During an argument that night, Freeman’s wife told him to move out and she began recording on her cell phone “because of violent incidents in the past,” the arrest affidavit states.

Police say the video shows Freeman entered her bedroom and punched her in the chest, where they say a red mark could be seen.

Freeman, who has a 2014 battery conviction from Orange County, was kept in custody overnight and released on $7,500 bond. His court date is set for Aug. 30.
