James E. Binkley, Sr. (89) of Leesburg, FL passed away at his home on July 11, 2021. He was born February 11, 1932 in Charleston, WV.
James is survived by his children, Deborah Binkley of Leesburg, FL, James Binkley, Jr. (Hope) of Umatilla, FL and Terry Binkley (Andrea) of Eustis, FL, along with his grandchildren, Chrysta and Cole Binkley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hursken and Altha (Moore) Binkley, his brother, Leland Binkley, and the love of his life, his wife, and mother of his children, Laura Alice “Bea” Binkley.
James (Jim) was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and served the community as a Crime Scene Technician for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for many years. For most of his life, he was a cabinetmaker and woodworker, following the heritage of his family. He was the Chaplain for the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 741. Jim loved riding motorcycles. He was a devout Christian and a member of Life Church Assembly of God in Fruitland Park. Above all, Jim was a “salt of the earth” man, a genuine gentleman, filled with integrity and a caring spirit. He was a great husband and father. Jim has left many fond memories, and he will be greatly missed.
