Facebook messenger screenshots helped lead law enforcement to a suspect in the theft of a woman’s Corvette.

Travis Alan Case, 29, of Leesburg, was arrested Thursday on a Lake County warrant charging him with dealing in stolen property.

The owner of the gold 1984 Chevrolet Corvette on June 28 reported that the vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was later recovered and it was apparent it had been hot wired. The owner discovered Facebook messages, complete with photos of her Corvette, which had been exchanged between Case and another man.

Case later admitted he had hot wired the vehicle and wanted $1,000 for it, even though he did not have a title or a bill of sale.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.
