Sylvia Margolin Kahn passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Villa Marin Retirement Community in San Rafael, CA.

Sylvia was born in Chattanooga, TN to her parents, Benjamin and Yetta, on March 28, 1927. She and her mother moved to New York City after the death of her father. She briefly attended New York University before her marriage to Cecil Jack Kahn in 1948. Sylvia and Jack lived and worked in the New York City area before retiring to The Plantation in Leesburg, FL in 1996. After the death of Jack in 2005, Sylvia joined her daughter in San Rafael, CA and resided at Villa Marin for her remaining years. After a successful career in publishing she liked to stay busy so she served on many committees at Villa Marin and participated in many activities. Sylvia gathered friends wherever she went and will be missed by many.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, husband, and three siblings, Melvin, Ervin and Reah. Sylvia is survived by her loving daughter Joanne Giffra, and son-in-law, Greg Giffra. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held in the future when she will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to 10,000 Degrees, a scholarship fund for low-income students in Marin County, CA.
